As early as 1662, the name STAEDTLER has been associated with high quality writing instruments. According to municipal records, Friedrich Staedtler originally made pencils in Nuremberg, Germany, but it was nearly 200 year later that Johann Sebastian Staedtler founded what has since evolved into the successful multi-national corporation it is today.





STAEDTLER, INC. was established in the U.S.A. in 1922 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of STAEDTLER Mars GmbH & Co. (Nuremberg, Germany) in 1971.

The U.S.A. subsidiary maintains a distribution center in Montville, New Jersey, in addition to the warehouse at their California headquarters.
STAEDTLER products can be found in office products superstores, mass market retail outlets, college bookstores, military exchanges, arts and crafts retailers, educational supply catalogs, and have long been a favorite among educators and graphic design professionals.
